A day trip with my friend to Villa General Belgrano

We took the scooter to Villa General Belgrano this morning. It is a 12 km trip and on the scooter it is very nice. The warm summer wind in your face and the beautiful scenery makes it a wonderful outing for the day.

I have been to Villa General Belgrano so many times but today was the first time with my friend Monica. I also got an opportunity to browse all the shops, to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. One of the shops sell the most gorgeous handmade gifts. They have anything from fairies to wall decorations.  While my friend was browsing for gifts I noticed these beautiful indoor waterfalls. They are called water walls and I have seen some of them in the lobbies of fancy hotels.

It is a pretty little town, where people still speak German. In fact the whole town has a strong European influence. Even the houses are built in a typical European style -the balcony with flowers is so typical Austrian and German.

But over the years it has become very touristy and regular visits can become a little boring. But for first timers in Argentina it is a must see. In October they host the Argentinean-Oktoberfest. It is extremely popular and people come from far to enjoy the celebrations. Last year more than 70,000 people attended the Oktoberfest!

Villa General Belgrano has a lot to offer. You can browse different shops, eat typical German food at one of the many restaurants, visit a beer and chocolate factory and relax in one of the parks.

The shops close for siesta and in the afternoon. When they close there is not much to do but to spend time in one of the restaurants, eat and drink beer. That is exactly what we have done.

Monni was buying some gifts and then we headed to one of the restaurants. We ordered a litre of Red beer and talked the afternoon away.  I love the beer that they serve here. It is beer made by the locals or like they call them “artesenales”. They have different flavours: black, red, honey and clear.

We had one more last stop and that was the chocolate factory. A visit to Ville General Belgrano is not complete without a visit to one of the most delicious chocolate factories in this area. I loved the beautiful Christmas lights and christmas decorations that were in the chocolate shop. I always suggest to people to buy gifts here because they wrap it so nicely and the chocolate is good!

I have been fortunate to have done quite a bit of travelling. By heart I am an adventurer and I love exploring new places, cultures and food. Travelling can become stressful and expensive. Over the years I have learnt to travel as cost effective as possible, simply by travelling more clever.
