Transfer to Moscow Airport with a Taxi.

Moscow has three airports servicing both Domestic and International flights – Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo. Transferring to/from one of these airports with a lot of luggage can be problematic. That we discovered when we were flying out of Domodedovo Airport. Instead of booking a Moscow Airport Taxi in advance to help us with the luggage we battled with trams and public transport to get to the Airport.

Why pre-book a taxi to the airport?

Traffic in Moscow is horrendous and if you don`t allow for enough time you could easily miss your flight. In addition the language could be a problem and you could end up at the wrong airport. Fortunately my husband is Russian and I don`t have to battle on my own but other people are not that lucky.

You cannot go wrong booking a taxi to the airport through a reputable agency. There are many taxis out there that will rip you off. One of the advantages of using a pre-booked taxi is that the rate is fixed.

When we visited Russia last year that is exactly what we did. We made arrangements before the time and what a lifesaver it was.

How does a pre-booked taxi in Moscow works?

The type of vehicle that you will need depends on how many people and the amount of luggage that you carry with you. Normally there are sedans and minivans to choose from. The vehicles are new and luxury. First of all you need to make a reservation. The company will need the following information from you:

• Name and surname as displayed on the sign.
• Email and phone number.
• Flight number.
• Date and time.
• Where you need to be transferred from and to where.

A person from the company will be waiting for you at the arrivals area of the Airport or at your hotel with your name on the sign.

Restrictions and limitations by using a Moscow Airport taxi.

Understandably there is a limit to the amount of luggage that can go into the vehicles.

• Standard (1-3 persons) – max. 3pcs;
• Business (3 persons) – max. 4pcs;
• Minivan (4-7 persons) – max. 8pcs;

If you have additional requirements like a wheelchair or baby trolleys let them know before the time.

Public transport in Moscow is excellent but unfortunately it can be time consuming and difficult if you are a first time traveler to Russia. In my opinion the best option is to pre-book a Moscow Airport Taxi and have that extra peace of mind.
