Nostalgic Moments

Today I am participating in a Blogging event called ´Nostalgic Moments´ over at Art of Sharing Blogfest.

It is such a lovely topic and you can write about anything that creates a feeling of Nostalgia. Share anything and everything you want – be it a video, a photo, a song, a book, a person, a place, a story, a recipe or anything which you want to share with your fellow blogger. However, while sharing you have to explain why it makes you nostalgic. Be creative and share it with all of us.

There are a few moments in your life when you are truly and completely happy, and you remember to give thanks. Even as it happens you are nostalgic for the moment, you are tucking it away in your scrapbook.”
David Benioff, When the Nines Roll Over: And Other Stories

Time goes by so quickly and people and circumstances change. Looking at this photo I wish I could change the time back to the days when it was uncomplicated. Unfortunately we can never turn back the hands of time.

A Snowflake Falls

© Ruth Adams
One night I saw a snowflake fall,
Past memories it did recall,

And as the snow fell to the ground,
So quietly without a sound,

I watched until a blanket made,
To glistening white brown earth did fade.

An untouched cover until the dawn,
the sun arose it was soon gone.

I thought of friendships in the past,
Seemed perfect though they did not last.

And family ties once meant so much,
Now rarely do we keep in touch.

So quickly life can take a turn,
Yet slowly we do seem to learn,

So many things in life can change,
And suddenly be rearranged.

In our slumber while we do sleep,
For granted blessings thought to keep,

For same as night does turn to morn,
An untouched blanket can get torn,

The things that we have overlooked,
Ignored, rejected or mistook,

As melted snow does turn to slush,
Relationships can turn to dust.

So this year for the Holiday,
Praise God for blessings gave today.

Don’t take for granted they’ll remain,
That life forever will be the same.

Let’s be the most that we can be,
For all our friends and family.

Unlike the snowflake on the ground,
Let’s keep in touch and stay around.

I have been fortunate to have done quite a bit of travelling. By heart I am an adventurer and I love exploring new places, cultures and food. Travelling can become stressful and expensive. Over the years I have learnt to travel as cost effective as possible, simply by travelling more clever. Nelmitravel.com is a Adventure and Budget Travel site where I review Airlines, Accommodation, Transport, Restaurants and give helpful travel information.

  1. Your children are beautiful! Our children (I have a son and a daughter) must be around the same age. I often think about them when they were that age. At least we have our memories and lovely photos such as this one. <3

  2. Poignant! Moments like this, so special, should be captured in any way possible. And what a lovely poem and photo to capture yours Nelieta! As melted snow does turn to slush, Relationships can turn to dust.Sad but true 🙁

  3. the best gift from God is our children. your daughters are gorgeous. loved the poem which talked about much practical realities about relationships that change with time. some change to fade away, some change to stay awake.

  4. Thank you Sancheeta! I guess when people are caught up ´in the moment´ they don´t always see how important relationships are and that we need to work on them to strengthen them and prevent them from falling apart.

  5. Oh Nelieta… they're as beautiful as you are… and looking at the image gives that sensation of nostalgia… Great choice of poem too… Oh, I'll remember when snowflakes falls (even if we don't have snow here)…

  6. Such a lovely photo and I am sure a great moment for you. I get all warm and fuzzy and teary-eyed when I look at the photos of my kids when they were little. Those memories you push so far back in your head come rushing towards light when you see a photo. It's so magical.

Thank you for visiting. Have a fabulous day!
