Booking at the Radisson Blu Sobieski Hotel in Warsaw, Poland.

We were looking forward with great anticipation to stay at the Radisson Blu Sobieski Hotel in Warsaw, Poland. The Radisson Blu Sobieski Hotel was not in our price range but we got a great deal through Booking.com and with almost 50% discount. We decided to make a booking for one night only. It would have been lovely to stay for two nights but we had a bus the next morning to Kaliningrad and could not miss it.

The booking was made through Booking.com and we advised the hotel that we would be checking in very late that evening and asked them to please keep our reservation. I was a little disappointed with Booking as it clearly stated that your credit card would not be charged but two weeks before our departure my credit card was charged in full for the accommodation.

Checking in at the Radisson Blu Sobieski Hotel.

We arrived just before 23h00 at the hotel and were very excited to be able to stay here. What a terrible check-in awaited us. The girl at the front desk who helped us did not even bother to look up and welcome us to the hotel. She did not say good evening or welcome.was asked for my passport in a very rude manner and at that stage I lost it.

If there is one thing that I cannot handle is rude people. I slapped my passport on the desk and that woke her up a little. She knew that I was not happy with her attitude. After checking in, we got a key card but she did not indicate where our room was. We had to ask another staff member to help us.

That really put a damper on our stay and we were very disappointed with the service.

Room and Facilities.

Our room was lovely, spacious and clean. Everything was as described on the webpage. The price did not include breakfast and was a little pricey. We decided not to eat breakfast as our schedule was tight.

The bathroom was spacious and had large mirrors. Towels are included and the water pressure great. The passages smelt like smoke and I did read on Tripadvisor that some  people were complaining about it. Facilities inside the room included the following:

  • Double bed.
  • Large TV mounted on the wall.
  • Small lounge with small table and chairs.
  • Street view.
  • Cupboard to hang clothes.
  • Mini bar and fridge.
  • Complimentary coffee and tea.

Reviews on Tripadvisor.

To my surprise I read on Tripadvisor that money disappeared from rooms. That is disturbing especially when you leave valuables inside the room! Luckily we only stayed for one night. Be careful no matter where you stay. Report a broken safe immediately to the front desk and insist on changing rooms. People had difficulty in making a police report and apparently staff was not very helpful.

How far is the hotel from the old city?

The hotel is very close from the main bus terminal in Warsaw. It is actually in walking distance. Buses are easy to find as you exit the hotel. The Radisson Blu is not close to the old town. If you are looking to stay close to the old town, then I suggest you look for something else.

Conclusion.

The fact that we received bad service does not mean that I will not be staying here again. It was unfortunate but these things happen. The hotel was truly beautiful and lives up to the Radisson name.
