Spring

I am participating in Jim´s Magnificent Monday this week, with the theme Spring and Fall Collections. If you want to link in with this event, please feel free to leave your link in the Linky section or at Jim´s blog and other participants can visit your post.

And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth’s dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.
~Percy Bysshe Shelley, “The Sensitive Plant”

Since I can remember I have loved Spring. Some of my earliest Spring memories include my late mom. She celebrated her birthday on 2 September. I remember we had a peach tree at the back of our house. Each year on her birthday, the tree was in bloom and covered in delicate pink flowers. It was indeed a lovely sight. It always made her smile.

I firmly believe that each person has a season tag. I am summer, my husband is winter, my best friend is spring and my sister is autumn.

The seasons are what a symphony ought to be:  four perfect movements in harmony with each other.  ~Arthur Rubenstein

Winter needs to knock pretty hard on my door before I finally let him in. Being a child of summer I must admit, I am never happy to see him but quite content to see him go.

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.  ~Anne Bradstreet

I have always dreamt of a magnificent garden filled with flowers. In the evening I want to walk through this garden and smell all the different flowers. My grandmother had the most amazing garden and she took great pride in her flowers. But unfortunately I haven´t been blessed with green fingers and that beautiful garden will probably only exist in my imagination – an elusive dream.

This however does not stop me from admiring other gardens, like my mother-in-law in Russia. She grows tulips, all different colours, which she then sells. I have never seen tulips more beautiful!

Here in Argentina if I want to admire flowers I have to go to La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano, where the German communities celebrate the Oktoberfest. The people always have the most beautiful flowers in wooden flower boxes. I tried to plant the same ones and the next day the ants ate them all. I have never been more disappointed!

If you’ve never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom.  ~Terri Guillemets

 Do you have a season?

I have been fortunate to have done quite a bit of travelling. By heart I am an adventurer and I love exploring new places, cultures and food. Travelling can become stressful and expensive. Over the years I have learnt to travel as cost effective as possible, simply by travelling more clever. 1. Wow! Love the tulips! Stunning! My season is fall with all of her stripping away and revealing the skeleton of things. . .plus the leaves! xo

  2. Beautiful, I loved all the photos, I am sure you have many other wonderful talents to make up for what you perceive as a lack in the garden. Mine is sheer laziness, just can't seem to get motivated anymore. I too long for the walks in a fragrant garden of my own. Thank you for sharing this.

  3. I loved the poem in the beginning! Spring is an amazing time of year that I have always enjoyed. It's one of my favorite seasons 🙂 Though, I think autumn is probably "my season". 🙂 Great post!

  8. What lovely flowers, Nelieta! I think I'm an autumn/winter person. Our summers are cruel and we don't have much difference in seasons like Europe and other places. Our seasons are hot, hotter and hottest. Thanks for this delightful burst of colour and vibrance.Joy always,Susan

  9. Flower power never fails to take hold of me! Here today, gone tomorrow – that just adds to the mystique of flowers. At least photos can save their beauty for posterity. 🙂

  11. Hi Susan, wow that is terrible that you don´t really have seasons! I have never thought about it like that. I mean I always thought all countries have all seasons. I must admit a hot, humid summer is not nice. Here where we live the summers are hot but not humid and at night it cools down. Those are the summers I like 🙂 Have a blessed day!

Thank you for visiting. Have a fabulous day!
