Pre-paid Sim card in Warsaw and where to purchase one

Buying a Pre-Paid Sim card in Warsaw.

When we arrived in Warsaw we needed to buy a pre-paid sim card. We didn´t have any problems finding a card or outlet. They are sold at Supermarkets and outlets throughout the city. I believe they can now be purchased at the Airport as well.

Cellphone networks in Poland.

Poland has a number of Cellphone networks to choose from but the most popular ones are:

T-Mobile sell starter kits for 5 zl. The card includes a 250 MB data plan and for 10 zl extra you can get a 1GB  plan. Please keep in mind that many people in Poland do not speak English well. If you have a lot of questions to ask about the bundles or what is included, you may find that things get lost in translation. My suggestion is to buy the 1GB card from the beginning, as there is not a big difference in price. However, if you are staying for a week only then the 250 MB plus sms and voice is a good deal.

Where to recharge your pre-paid sim card?

This can be done at any cellphone outlet or at the machines that can be found outside the supermarkets. They accept credit cards and the process is fairly simple. The more complicated part is to upgrade from a 250 MB plan to a 1 GB plan.

Payphones in Warsaw.

Pay phones are not easy to find and if you are staying in Poland for a while it is not a bad idea to have your own Polish number. If you do manage to find a pay phone, they sell phone cards at the Post Office.
