Christmas Lights in Somerset West – South Africa.
Every year people flock in their thousands to see the Christmas lights in Somerset West. They come from everywhere in the country and drive slowly through the main street to admire the stunning light creations. The lights are normally erected at the beginning of the Festive Season and each December the main street of Somerset West is transformed into a magical spectacle of light!
There are many original creations from airplanes to sledges. As we were driving through town we commented on how much is involved. I always find it fascinating to see the creativity of the people and what they come up with.
Helderberg Lights Festival or Strawberry Festival
The Helderberg Lights Festival (also known as the Strawberry Festival) traditionally complements these lights when the Main Road is closed off in the evening, and floats, parades and flea market stalls are lined up under the lights.
