Helisul Company provides helicopter rides over the Iguazu Falls. You will find them just outside the entrance of the Iguazu National Park on the Brazilian side. Please note that this ride is not available on the Argentinean side of the falls, so if you want to do it, make use of the opportunity while you are there.
There are three different options to choose from:
1. Flight over the falls and the Iguassu National Park. (10 minutes)
2. Flight over the falls. (7 minutes)
3. Flight over the falls, Itaipu Dam and the Three Borders Mark. (30 minutes)
I paid a hefty 95 USD back in 2007 and the ride only lasted about 10 minutes. I only remember the price because I wrote it down. But I can guarantee you that the memories of this trip will last a lifetime!
When you arrive at the office you are asked to sign an indemnity form and then they explain the trip and what you can expect to see. They also have a DVD available. I cannot remember if the DVD was included in the price or if you have to pay for it separate. In any case I have the DVD. It also has other interesting clips of the rain forest and the animals. The actual ride is not recorded and I suggest you take as many pictures as possible!
The helicopter can take up to 4 people and the best spot is in the front next to the pilot. I was lucky to be first in the line and got the front seat! There are also private tours available.
The view from the front is absolutely spectacular, the front bottom is clear plastic and you have an amazing view. You can take pictures with your camera from the bottom or through a small window on the left.
The helicopter makes a couple of rounds over the falls and forest. The weather is not always good and we had rain drops but I still managed to take good pictures. The best part is off course the flight over the Devil’s Throat! Now that is super cool! You will never be able to see this view from land.
I highly recommend this tour even if the price is a little steep.
