Traveling from Montreal to Paris and how to find the best flight deals.
It can be tiresome to repeatedly search the internet in an attempt to find the best flight deals. Prices are continually fluctuating and not to mention the endless search engines that are supposed to make the task easier.
We were recently searching for a flight from Montréal to Paris for a friend, trying to find the cheapest flight possible. It was an overwhelming experience to say the least. In this post I will give useful tips that will save you time, money and keeping your information safe.
1. Don’t wait to book flights.
Flights do not get cheaper closer to the date of departure. If you know the date that you want to travel and the destination, don’t wait to purchase the ticket. Last minute deals are difficult to find and will only cause frustration if you are unable to find a cheap ticket.
2. Cookies and browser safety tips.
During our search for a cheap flight, we noticed an interesting phenomenon regarding prices. After searching a few times for flights from Montreal to Paris, we noticed the price kept on changing. Are we crazy? We then tried to search for a flight from Toronto to Paris and noticed the same trend.
Fact is. After searching a few times in your web browser, prices do change. Why? Cookies. No, it is not the type that you eat. Cookies are messages that web servers pass to your web browser when you visit Internet sites. Have you noticed at the bottom of your page messages that inform the user about cookies that are stored on the site?
Your browser stores each message in a small text files. If you repeatedly search for a flight, the prices will change. The site is actually trying to trick you into thinking that the price will get more expensive based on a high demand.
Always search for flights in “Incognito” mode. This way, cookies will not be stored.
3. Search directly on the website of the airline.
Many search engines inflate prices because they take a cut from the airlines. Search directly on the website of the airline and compare the prices to the web search results. After comparing flight prices on the search engines, Skyscanner and the airlines, we found the cheapest prices directly on the Air France website from Montreal to Paris. There was a noticeable difference in price.
4. The cheapest day to fly.
Many people say that there are “cheap” days to fly. I am not sure if there is any truth in that. It does help to get an overview of the prices for the month and to see the trend. Many airlines offer this service on their websites but you could also use a very handy application called, Skyscanner. Airlines do offer cheaper tickets on certain dates but tickets for example on a Monday, is not always the cheapest.
5. Sign up for travel rewards and accumulate valuable points.
If you are a frequent flyer, then it is worthwhile to sign up for travel rewards. With the points that you earn from flights, you can get discount or even free flights or upgrades. Read up about the rewards programs of the different airlines and save money in the long run. Air France for example offers the Flying Blue loyalty program where you benefit from additional services and by accumulating miles.
Flying with the latest Dreamliner from Montreal to Paris.
I mentioned before that we found the cheapest flight directly on the Air France site. Well, we were quite envious because our friend had the privilege to fly with the latest Boeing 787, Dreamliner. What a wonderful experience!
