Polish food and markets in Warsaw.
Polish Food markets are great places to get acquainted with local cuisine. Some of the tastiest and best value food can be found at street food stalls. This was no different in Warsaw, Poland. Starving, we decided to explore the Old City in the quest of finding something to eat. It didn’t take long to discover a market buzzing with flavors and colors. Obviously many others were dying to get their hands on food as well!
What type of Polish food can be found at markets?
There are many types of food that can be put to the test. The food are not always the healthiest but they are delicious and cheap. Let’s have a look at some of the most popular food that can be found at open-markets in Warsaw.
Obwarzanek is a type of bread that is almost in a doughnut shape. To be honest, I have seen so many different types of bread in Warsaw, that I don’t know the difference between all of them. Obwarzanek was originally invented in Kraków.
Zapiekanki is a baguette that is cut in half and topped with vegetables like mushrooms and onions. It is normally served with a sauce of your choice.
Kielbasa is very delicious! They come in beef and pork flavors and can be spicy. Kielbasa is also very popular for breakfast and served with eggs.
Bread is very popular in Poland and can be found with all meals. Polish people love their bread.
Vendors can be found everywhere and the dishes are prepared in minutes. The most difficult part is to make up your mind! Now for the multi-million dollar question. What do you drink with your food? Well, Poland is not very popular for it’s beer, so the best choice is Vodka. Yes, Poland is a Vodka drinking nation so grab a shot of Vodka and make a toast. Food markets are lots of fun and musicians and street entertainers can be found everywhere.
