Sparrow Hills is the highest point in Moscow.
Sparrow Hills or Vorobyovy Gory as it is known in Russian, is one of the highest points in Moscow and at 220m above sea level it gives you a breathtaking, panoramic view of Moscow. It overlooks the Mockba River and the Moscow State University.
It is indeed a very romantic place. With this incredible view in the background it is not surprising that so many newly weds come here to take photos and drink champagne. It is also the place where graduates come to on the night of their Graduation Ball. Lovers meet here and propose to their sweethearts.
A beautiful view of Moscow.
If you look straight in the middle of the Panorama you can see the Kremlin and the 6 skyscrapers which was built in the 50´s. It is also called “Stalin´s wedding cake!”. Behind you is the famous Moscow State University.
Andrey and I spent a couple of hours in this area. There is so much to do and see. This place is very vibrant with a lot of people walking, selling things, wedding parties and a spectacular view.
A huge park is close to Sparrow Hills and you will often see people cycling or roller blading here.
A protected park at the base hill.
At the base of the hill is a protected park where you could go for a lovely walk. You can also buy souvenirs from the local vendors or just enjoy watching the people. I had a great time taking photos and soaking up the view.

Hi Mr A, so nice to have you back again 🙂 We were there in April 2008 and it was still cold…actually very cold. But I am so happy we were not there in the winter when it was snowing.
If only it weren't that cold in Moscow, I would love to stay here for a year. The culture is so rich and there are so many interesting things to explore.
What an interesting article. Russia is one place that has never crossed my mind to visit. Yet somehow you have made it enticing. A culture that is rich in history – you have captured it well in your photos.

Lovely post, I have a feeling this is a part of Moscow I did get out to but had forgotten the name – the view in that first panoramic photo certainly looks familiar.
