The Drugstore Restaurant – a colourful restaurant in a scenic place.

The Drugstore is a colourful and vibrant restaurant in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. It was recommended to us by the Bed-and-Breakfast where we stayed and we were delighted with it. The atmosphere is cozy and it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy quality time with friends or loved ones.

The food is prepared in an open kitchen and it is interesting to watch them.  We were entertained by a live band but the music was not overpowering and we thought it added a nice touch to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. The Drugstore is situated in the old city, nestled among Colonial buildings and vintage cars. It feels like you are transformed back into time. The walls inside the restaurant is covered in bright paintings and the walls are painted vibrant colours.

The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered a Paella that took 50 minutes to prepare. I did not mind at all because we had time to enjoy the scenery. Monica ordered a Japanese dish called Teriyaki. She felt it was a little on the dry side but I really liked it. We decided to wait for the Paella.

We couldn’t believe our eyes when it arrived. It was big enough for two people and we decided to share it. This was by far the best Paella that I have ever tasted. We had more than enough and took the leftovers with us to eat later.

The service was great, food priced reasonably, taking into consideration that it is a touristy place. We can highly recommend The Drugstore when in Colonia del Sacarmento.

They only accept cash and no credit cards. If you don’t have cash, there is bank opposite the restaurant.
