Tips for keeping your drinks cool at the beach.
When we were in Russia last year we loved to go to the beach with our friends. Summer is an ideal time to head down to the beach and people always enjoy the warm weather. After all summer in Russia is only a couple of months and then it is winter again. Each family would bring drinks, food and snacks. I often smiled when we were walking down to the beach because we carried so many things. In Russia it is not uncommon to have a BBQ on the beach.
It is more practical to buy everything before the time and to bring it a long to the beach because there are no shops close by where you can quickly buy something. This is a little problematic especially when you are planning to drink beer, juice,Vodka or cold drinks.
So how do you keep your drinks cool?
One of the first things that the guys did was to grab the drinks and dig a hole in the sand close to the water. They would put the bottles inside the hole and cover it with sand. I was pleasantly surprised because it did the trick. Our drinks were always cold. You have to watch your drinks off course and don`t burry them too shallow or too far because the sea might uproot them or cover them completely with water.
There is another trick that works and that is to cover your drink in wet toilet paper. The drier the paper the cooler the drink! Unbelievable but it does work.
Finding interesting ways to keep your drinks cool during hot summer days is great fun. An added bonus for us was off course the icy cold water of the Baltic Sea.
I am interested to hear how people keep their drinks cool when travelling or during summer. Please leave a comment in the comment section.
