I was booked into the Royal National Hotel at the start of my Contiki tour. It was my first trip to the UK and I was travelling by myself. The hotel is used as a base for most Contiki tours starting in London. I stayed a total of 3 nights in the Hotel before and after my trip.
It is a very big hotel and a lot of young people are staying in the hotel. The hotel is advertised as budget accommodation and reminds me more of a hostel. The hotel was really busy with a lot of noise but it is to be expected as the hotel has more than 1600 rooms.
The Royal National Hotel is very centrally located and walking distance from the Russel square underground. This is not a luxury hotel as to be expected for the price that you pay.
The room was average and I was sharing with 2 other girls. The bathroom was clean but very small.
The main breakfast is continental but an English breakfast is available at an additonal cost.
If you are travelling on a budget and you are not fussed about noise then this is the place for you. I don’t recommend the hotel for older or business travellers.
