The French Alps is considered as one of the top places in Europe to ski and snowboard. Les Trois Vallées, also known as the Three Valleys, is a ski area in the Savoie region of France. It is one of the most famous ski regions in the world. This ski area consists out of three valleys: Saint-Bon, Allues, and Belleville. Skiers have flocked to this area since 1973.
The valleys are interlinked and with a single ski pass, they can be explored. Did you know that the Three Valleys is the largest ski area in the world that is connected by ski lifts and slopes? Yes, they have 183 ski lifts and can transport approximately 260,000 skiers per hour.

How to choose a ski resort in the Three Valleys and French Alps?
There are many top class resorts to choose from in the French Alps and the Three Valleys. Each offers different kinds of accommodation. The most important thing to consider is your own personal needs. Do you need a self-catering apartment, all-inclusive hotel or budget accommodation. In my opinion, start by focusing on your priorities and personal needs.
List the most important things that you want in a ski resort. That will narrow down your search. To give an example. Val Thorens is a world class resort and thanks to it’s location, you can step out of your hotel or chalet and the magnificent slopes are on your doorstep. Yes, location is very important. You don’t want to lose any valuable time on a ski holiday french alps.
Choosing a ski pass and what to keep in mind.
You can buy ski passes now online. This avoids queuing and wasting precious holiday time. There are two options to choose from. Purchase a ski pass online and collect it at a distributor when you arrive. Distributors are normally located at ticket offices and at the Tourism Office. The other option is to have it delivered to your home address by post. It is suggested to purchase it at least 10 days before you arrive. It all depends on where you live in the world. I do not suggest this option when you live outside of Europe.
Should you run out of credits, recharge it online. It takes only 5 minutes for the credits to appear on your ski pass!
There are 3 different ski passes to choose from. The Three Valleys, includes Val Thorens-Orelle, Les Menuires-St Martin de Belleville, Méribel, La Tania, Brides les Bains et Courchevel. More than 600 km of runs that can be covered with this ski pass. (35 black, 107 red, 140 blue, 55 green).
Val-Thorens-Orelle: This ski pass covers 150 runs. (9 black, 30 red, 35 blue, 11 green).
Tip: Don’t forget about ski insurance. It is something that many people overlook but very important. For a small fee, you could avoid nasty surprises.
