Transport between Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi Airports.
There are two International Airports in Bangkok: Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi. They are on opposite sides of the city. The distance between the two airports is +- 45 kms.If you have flown in to Don Mueang International Airport and you need to transfer to Suvarnabhumi then you have a couple of options when it comes to transport.
If you are in a hurry to get to Suvarnabhumi Airport then the best option is to take a taxi. I am not sure how much they charge but some forums have mentioned a minimum of 300 Baht.
The other option is free but takes a lot longer. There is an airport bus that travels between the two airports. Please take note that if you don`t have enough time then this bus is not for you. You could miss your next flight. Although the distance is only 45kms it could take anything between 1 hour and 2 hours to get to the airport. It all depends on the traffic.
The bus travels on the highway and goes through a couple of toll gates. We did get stuck in traffic but luckily we were not travelling during rush hour.
Transfer between Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi.
You will find the bus just outside the terminals. There is a big red sign that says: “Shuttle Bus Don Mueang Suvarnabhumi”. The first bus departs 5 am and the last bus at midnight. The front of the bus is marked “Shuttle Bus”. You don`t need to pay. Have your boarding pass ready and the lady will come and check it.
The bus will drop you off directly in front of the terminal at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Please note that the same procedure applies for Suvarnabhumi Airport to Don Muaeng Airport. I am not sure if a cost applies when you travel from Suvarnabhumi Airport because I didn’t take that bus.
