City of Pag, Croatia.

Pag island, situated a few kilometres from the town of Zadar, is beautiful. The town of Pag is the largest town on Pag island and in the center. Founded in the 15th century and to this day, well-preserved, full of history and cultural heritage. Many significant architectural monuments is here.

What to see and do in the City of Pag?

Pag is world famous for their cheese (Paški sir) and lacework. Pag cheese is made from the milk of autochthon sheep that are bred on the island. Skills have been passed on to children and grandchildren over the centuries. Do not miss the grilled lamb – one of the gastronomic specialties of the city!

Places to visit include the Lace Museum where you can see unique examples of the famous Pag lace. Lace souvenirs make great gifts for friends and family back home.

Other famous landmarks and tourist attractions include:

  • The Old city center and remnants of the old city wall;
  • The Dukes Castle;
  • The old tower;
  • The salt warehouse established in the 16th century (salt production is very important in Pag);
  • The Monastery of the Benedictions (buy fresh bread at the nunnery);

Pag island off course, is also famous, for its large sandy beaches. The sea is crystal clear and in summer you will find never-ending parties and entertainment. Prosika is the largest beach and located close to the center Pag city.

How to get to the island of Pag.

You can reach The island of Pag by ferryboat from Prizna to Žigljan. During the summer season the ferry sails non-stop but off-season it sails according to a schedule. The other option is to cross the large road bridge that is located on the southern tip of the island.
