Moscow river cruises offer a unique experience to see the city from a different angle.
Moscow river cruises are a great way to experience this great city from a different angle. Relaxing and guided sightseeing tours that take around 2 and half hours. Tours are available all year round. They use special ice-breaker boats during the cold, winter months.
Refreshments and a bar are available on the luxury boats as you cruise along the Moscow river. Seating is available inside with air condition or outside on the deck. I prefer the deck where you can enjoy a nice breeze. For obvious reasons, I do not recommend to sit outside during the winter months.
What to see on a Moscow river cruise?
You will be able to see many of the cities most famous attractions from the boat. The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and the Kremlin are among them. The Kremlin is often called the “Heart of Moscow”. The tour pass by many beautiful and historical buildings as well as famous bridges. It is a unique and unforgettable experience.
There are many companies, offering river cruises in Moscow. They take place during the day or at night. Romantic night cruises come highly recommended and a meal and cocktail options are available.
How to book Moscow river cruises?
There are a few companies offering this type of service.
- Flotilla Radisson Royal;
- Moscow River Boat Tours;
- Capital River Boat Tours;
- River Party (Website only available in Russian.)
Bookings for most of these companies are available online. Yet, I have found that although some of the pages are in English, the booking process is not easy. Sites default in some cases back to Russian and can complicate the booking process. Tickets are available at designated ticket offices close to departure points in Moscow. This, in my opinion, is the better option because the staff does speak English or you could find a person who would be willing to help.
Boats for example for Flotilla Radisson Royal leave for example from Gorky Park and the Radisson Royal hotel in Moscow. I suggest to read up about the different companies and to read reviews that are on Tripadvisor.
Prices start from 800 RUB per person.
This is what people had to say about Moscow river cruises:
Highlight of our trip to Moscow, we got on at the Radisson Royal ‘7 sister’ hotel and paid to go on the top deck.The dining room on the top deck has better views and better services due to the attentiveness as there’s less tables to serve. The food is fantastic and theres a varied menu. The boat passes all the sights towards the Kremlin and Red Square and is excellent for photos and selfies. I would definitely but on the list of things to do.
