The Tug Restaurant in Swakopmund is very popular.
The Tug Restaurant is considered to be one of the top 10 restaurants in Southern Africa. A reservation is required and is very popular among tour groups. Hotel staff recommended the restaurant.
The location is perfect! A seafront restaurant within an old tug, makes this location ideal and very special. We visited in March and the weather was great.
Specialities of the Restaurant.
The restaurant is famous for its seafood and African dishes. We decided to try the seafood specialities as it was recommended. They have a variety of fish from the coastal waters and they cook it to perfection. For starters I decided to eat the garlic snails with bread. This is a typical African dish and something that I miss a lot. Monica settled on the oysters.

For the main course we decided on the Crayfish platter for Monica and the Salmon steak for me. It was absolutely delicious and came with large portions. We ordered a superb bottle of white wine that complimented our food. For desert I ordered a Dom Pedro and Monica a Cognac.
The restaurant itself is not big and it fills up quickly. It can get a little noisy and hot inside. If you want to have a sea view, it is important to book in advance and ask for a table with a view.
This is by far one of the best restaurants where I have eaten. The service, view, food and location is excellent!
