the footpath in koh samui
One morning I was walking in the gardens of Sunrise Bungalows where we were staying in Koh Samui. They have beautiful tropical gardens and it was a pleasure to walk there. Talk about serenity! I watched the two gardeners every morning as they lovingly took care of the gardens, plants and flowers. They had what my grandmother would call “Green fingers”. You could see that they had a passion for gardening and I admired that. It is something that I don`t have.
Close to the entrance of the Bungalows was a peculiar path. It didn’t`t look like your normal footpath. Round rocks peeked out from underneath soft sand and there were steel frames around the path. It was quite strange and it made me curious to know more.
a foot path and reflexology
A sign with an explanation was posted on the frame. This footpath is a foot massage and you walk on the stones and hold on to the steel frame for support. I took off my shoes and started to walk on the stones. It hurt! Mind you, I don`t like to walk barefoot. I don`t like how grass or sand feel underneath my feet. My mother used to love walking barefoot and always told us it is very healthy.
It turned out my mom was right. They say that the foot massage stimulates the system and the functions of the internal organs. By stimulating the internal organs they secrete chemicals. This helps to prevent disease and promote health. The stones help to reduce muscle pain and fatigue. It also helps to prevent constipation, helps with the digestive system, eating well, the functioning of the heart and balancing the weight of the body on the legs.
Maybe it is not a bad idea to dedicate an area in my garden to a massage path like this one.
